Sandrock Development: Key Themes for your objection

Key themes from last night's meeting for residents to consider in their objections:

Mention some or all of the following:


  • you are local or that you have a particular interest in the area;
  • you have looked at the plans;
  • population density;
  • parking issues and the impact on neighbouring roads;
  • viability (or not) of the pub;
  • lower standard of living;
  • the Place
  • the development doesn't look like other buildings in the vicinity.

Remember you can make one objection per person, but if you are posting a letter make sure you send it recorded, if you hand a letter in to the Council's offices make sure you get a receipt!!

If you are using the online portal, remember there is a limit of 2000 characters including spaces and new paragraphs. We suggest you compose your response in Word and then paste it online. The portal also times out if you leave it too long.

Croydon Council is inviting comments on this planning application:

The Sandrock, 152 Upper Shirley Road Croydon CR0 5HA

Erection of two storey side/rear extension to The Sandrock Public House and use of first/second floors as 4 flats including 1 x two bedroom flat for staff accommodation. Erection of 2 x two/three storey buildings to rear of pub comprising 7 x one bedroom flats, 3 x two bedroom flats and 6 x three bedroom flats with associated amenity space and car parking with creation of new access off Sandrock Place

 Use the Online Comments facility following instructions on the Online Planning Register; a duplicate hard copy is not necessary, or

 Send a letter to Development Management, Place Department, Bernard Weatherill House, 8 Mint Walk, Croydon CR0 1EA. 


 Quote the application number above in any correspondence. If you do not send your comments in time, they may not be considered.
